Walkthrough ================================================ 1. About the Walkthrough ------------------------ 1.1 I have done several walkthroughs over the past few years now on Super Metroid. These range from the simple beginners walkthrough to a speed run 100% walkthrough. This walkthrough is different, I hope to try and include both of these into one. 1.2 So basically with this walkthrough you should be able to start the game a complete in a fairly good time (under 1:50 hopefully) and it be your first time playing the game. ================================================= 2. How to use the Walkthrough ----------------------------- 2.1 To start with you might need a map of the complete game. You can get this off my site (http://www.geocities.com/snes_gamesuk) and follow the link to the right part. 2.2 I would advise to all users to read through this guide before they start to play - as reading and playing at the same time can be very impossible. 2.3 If you want to do the speed run make sure you have time enough to do each of the various stages in the walkthrough. ================================================= 3. Weapons & Equipment in the Game ---------------------------------- 3.1 There are various weapons and Equipment in the game ranging from powerful suites of armour to power bombs that kill most things on the screen. Below is a discription of the these things plus the areas that they are in. 3.2 Equipment 3.2.1 Morphing Ball This is the first thing in the game that you will get. It allows you to roll into a ball and fit into small gaps. You can find this item in Brainstar. 3.2.2 Bomb This is the second item that you get. This will allow you to detonate small bomb close to a brick (or something like that) and destroy it - you need the morphing ball to be able to use it. This item will do some damage to enimies. You can find this item in Creatirea 3.2.3 Energy Tanks This item will expand your engery carrying by added a further 99 energy points to you energy. Creatue of the Game ---------------------- 4.1 There are many creatures of the game ranging simple - one shot creature to bosses and mini-bosses. Thes section trys to explain a bit of them to you. 4.2 Main Bosses 4.2.1 Kraid This is your first MAIN boss that you will face. Kraid is a sort of big lizard with an attiude. You fight this boss in two sections. The first part you fight him with only half of his body reveald. After you smack him with a super missiles he will rise to his full hight. Part II - Jump onto the plateforms shoot him in the mouth with your normal beam and then when he opens to raw shot with a super missiles. He will take around 3 Super Missiles or 15 Normal Missiles. You will Find him at the end of Brainstar. 4.2.2 Phantoom Phantoom is your second MAIN boss that you will face. Phantoom is like a big Squid with on eye. You can only hurt him when he opens his eye. But he only opens his eye for a limited time. The best way to do this boss is to stay morphid in the corner while he does his dance. When he opens his eye shoot him with a normal missiles twice. Then shoot him with Super missile. Do this Untill he dies. 4.2.3 Draygon Draygon is your third MAIN boss that you will face. He looks like a big under water Shrimp. There are two ways of kill Draygon (The hard way and the easy way). Both ways you will need to shoot out the gun pods either side of the room. 4.2.3.1 The Hard Way Using super missiles shoot them into his belly while dodging his attacks. Watch out for the squiggy white this that grabe you because Draygon will grabe your and hurt you lots. 4.2.3.2 The Easy Way Let Draygon grab you and arm the grappling beam. When you get close enough to the gun pods shoot your grappling beam into the destroyed gun pods and send an electric shock to kill Draygon in a matter of seconds. 4.2.4 Ridley Ridley is the fourth MAIN boss you will face. He looks like a Dragon. Like when you faced him of the space station he follows the same attacks. Though this time it's to the death. Basically shoot every thing you have into him until he dies. You find him in lower Norfair. 4.2.5 Motherbrain Motherbrain is the final boss in the game and has three different stages. 4.2.5.1 Part I - The Glass tube. When you first encounter Motherbrain she is encased in a glass tube that you have to break. These can only be damaged by missiles or Super missiles. Once you have broken the case carry one shooting until the room start to shake, and it locks you in. The lava will lower and the head will drop down to the floor. 4.2.5.2 Part II - Metroid to the Rescue After Motherbrain head falls to the floor. She will stand back up on her mechanical body. Shoot everything you have at her - don't worry too much about you energy. The Idea is to get her pissed off enough for he to use a death ray. You will know this when to retracts her head and you her a sort of charging sound. You cannot dodge this weapon so don't bother trying. This weapon will knock 3 to 3 energy tanks off you each time. If the attack will kill you then the big Metroid will come in suck the energy out of Motherbrain and then transfer this to you. 4.2.5.3 Part III - Now you've done it (The Two Bitches Fight) After the Metroid has fully recharged you it will try and attack Motherbraind again. But it will be destroyed over Samus. As the ashes fall down on to Samus the music will change and Samus will get the Hyper beam. Use this and shoot it at motherbrains head. After a few shots she will die.
